My name is Clare Smith. My background is a degree in Psychology which I utilised by undertaking a child development research post at the University of Bristol. I have a PGCE in primary education from the University of Leicester and an MA in Education from the University of Beford. I have been teaching in primary schools for 29 years in a range of roles including as a class teacher across the primary age range, assistant educational psychologist working with children from preschool to post 16, and as SENCo and deputy headteacher in two primary schools. I have actively been involved in system leadership, facilitating school to school support activities and a range of national and bespoke leadership courses as a Specialist Leader in Education. I have been invested in teacher training and development for 22 years and am a Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching with a particular interest in evidence-informed practice . I am the Primary Course Director for BEC Teacher Training, where I lead many of the general professional studies sessions and the history and RE curriculum programmes, alongside roles as a PGCE supervisor and Assessment Only Route assessor. I am looking forward to the exciting times ahead as BEC joins with Suffolk and Norfolk SCITT and to become the new NESTT organisation.
